Echoworx Joins Exclusive Group of Trusted Root Certificate Authorities Published By Microsoft

TORONTO, Ontario — April 11, 2006 — Echoworx Corporation, a leading provider of security software products for electronic communications, today announced Echoworx Root Certification Authority (CA) has been accepted for distribution under the Microsoft Root Certificate Program. This program seamlessly assures trust in the certificates issued by Echoworx and each of its ISP and carrier customers who offer Echoworx Secure Mail and other Echoworx security products. Echoworx has joined this exclusive group of trusted roots that have been published by Microsoft.

Service Providers, such as BellSouth, North Rock, USA.NET and Verizon, that offer their own branded Secure Mail value-added service based on Echoworx technology, now provide their subscribers with the confidence that the certificates issued are publicly recognized and trusted. This means that anybody using Windows XP and Windows 2000, or newer Microsoft platforms, who receives a Secure Mail message from a subscriber of Echoworx technology will be able to verify the authenticity of the sender and rely on the fact that this identity has been signed by a root CA recognized by Microsoft.

“We are very pleased to have finalized our Microsoft Root Certification,” said Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO of Echoworx. “This is a very important initiative because it authenticates the sender with a widely trusted root, and subscribers to Echoworx Secure Mail are able to exchange trusted messages with anyone using PKI industry standard technologies. We have worked with industry leaders such as Microsoft and Deloitte & Touche to ensure our customers are able to offer the highest level of confidence to their subscribers, with the overall objective of guaranteeing that Secure Mail value added services, based on Echoworx technology, is adopted by everyone with an email address.”

In November 2005, Echoworx announced with Deloitte that it has obtained an unqualified Section 5025 General Assurance audit report for its Echoworx Root Certificate Authority. The Echoworx Root CA assures the trustworthiness of credentials issued to subscribers of Echoworx Secure Mail. All Echoworx Secure Mail messages are encrypted and digitally signed at the sender’s desktop, and unlocked by the recipient using cryptographic keys certified for this purpose. Assurance in the security, integrity and operational practices of the Echoworx Root CA at the heart of this underlying public key infrastructure is paramount to ensuring that the credentials can be relied upon with confidence.

Echoworx Secure Mail is a white-label product offered by Service Providers on a monthly subscription basis. Subscribers need not change their email address, nor be a subscriber to the Service Providers DSL or email services. To sign up for the service, a simple plug-in is downloaded for Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express that provides the encryption function right on the desktop. A new “Secure” button will appear in the compose screen and the subscriber can send encrypted email messages to anyone, including non-subscribers of the service.
