A simple to use, on-demand encryption feature for Hosted Exchange Users
Toronto, Ontario, May 7, 2009 - Echoworx Corporation a leading provider of email and data encryption for enterprises, today announced its integration of Encrypted Mail Gateway with a leading Microsoft& Hosted and Managed Exchange provider, enabling them to extend their security services to include on-demand policy-based Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) encryption.
An average data breach can cost a company $6.3 million*. These incidents are costly and can have long lasting implications that companies cannot afford to risk. Email security has never before been such a critical business requirement, and industry and government legislation are driving companies to take action.
“We are very pleased to have completed this integration with a leading Microsoft® Hosted and Managed Exchange provider,” said Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO of Echoworx. “Our partners have been asking for a PKI-based email encryption solution that can accommodate simple policy, branding and user management for each business customer. This fully managed service allows businesses of any size to easily deploy on-demand encryption with no upfront investment, no disruption to workflow, and at a low cost per user.”
Adding Policy-Based Email Encryption to Hosted Security Services
Echoworx Encrypted Mail Gateway with policy based enforcement is a fully hosted solution that integrates seamlessly with existing email security services. There is no in-house software or appliances required and similar to the other hosted messaging services the end user experience is completely transparent. The authorized IT administrator can access the web-based interface where they can establish the privacy rules. Once the privacy rules are configured, the content and attachments of outbound email are scanned, and encryption is automatically applied if a policy is triggered. Echoworx Policy-based Encrypted Mail Gateway also provides access to a comprehensive audit report, so that IT administrators can review privacy offences and adapt or revise policies accordingly. Policies may include:
- Sender or Recipient identity – such as client name lists or account numbers
- Credit card number in subject or message
- SIN in subject or message
- Customer / account number in subject or message
- Key expressions for words such as “encrypt” or “confidential”
- Sensitive financial keywords in subject or body
- Sensitive RnD keywords in subject or body
- Sensitive legal keywords in subject or body
- Offensive language in subject or body
- Executable file attachments
- Office document attachments (spreadsheets, PDFs etc.)
