Echoworx Adds Secure Bulk Document Delivery, Streamlining Sensitive Business Processes

RSA CONFERENCE – SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – Companies and institutions across the globe are embracing Echoworx’s OneWorld encryption platform to ensure their important data is protected. And now by enabling the Secure Bulk Mail (SBM) feature within OneWorld, organizations can streamline their business operations while knowing that their communications are secure.

Echoworx President and CEO Michael Ginsberg says encryption has become part of the normal business process to prevent against data breaches and cyber-attacks and using it to automate processes has been a natural evolution. OneWorld provides organizations around the world with a single, flexible, easy-to-use encryption solution that can be integrated into their existing infrastructure.

“Over the last five years, encryption has gone mainstream, and because of its expanded usage, it’s moving from being an individual, manual process to being part of everyday business processes,” says Ginsberg. “We now have the tools to enable an institution or company to automate the secure bulk delivery of documents by generating personalized emails and then leveraging OneWorld’s multitude of encryption methods and reporting features, taking a heavy load off the institution.”

Organizations using Echoworx advanced encryption platform reap the benefits of being able to communicate with customers and partners quickly and securely. The platform offers large institutions, such as those in the financial sector, new and improved ways to engage customers and increase market share by offering secured services like e-statements. Documents such as financial statements and health records used to be mailed or faxed, but OneWorld’s SBM feature facilitates a paperless system, eliminating the cost and handling of paper transactions and enhancing customer experience.

“The change from paper mail to email is easy for any institution to adopt,” says Ginsberg. “Most consumers would prefer to receive statements by email, but sensitive information has to be kept private, so you need encryption. We added a secure bulk mailer feature at the request of our clients, who asked us to take it a step farther and address the delivery of bulk documents as well.”

While other services limit how encrypted documents are sent, organizations using SBM from Echoworx get all the options and benefits of the OneWorld encryption platform such as multiple encryption methods to ensure seamless communications to a variety of recipients, including TLS, S/MIME or PGP encryption, Secure PDF (full message), Secure PDF with secure Zip files, and Encrypted Web Portal.

Utilizing cloud services, Echoworx is not restricted by physical resources or IT intensive infrastructure maintenance. Their industry-leading encryption platform can be up and running in a jurisdiction within a short time, at an economical cost. To learn how Echoworx is emerging as a global leader in email security, stop by Booth 2019 at the RSA Conference from April 16-20 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

Echoworx Expands Encryption Business to Underserved Asia-Pacific Region

Cloud Security Expo, London (UK) – Email encryption provider Echoworx continues to expand its operations around the globe, with the Asia-Pacific countries (APAC) the latest region to benefit from Echoworx’s OneWorld secure communication platform.

With data centres in Mexico, UK, Canada, the United States, Ireland, and Australia, coming this spring, OneWorld offers organizations around the world a single, flexible, easy-to-use encryption solution that can be integrated into their existing infrastructure. To learn how Echoworx is emerging as a global leader in email security, stop by Booth S2715 at the Cloud Security Expo from March 21-22 at the ExCel Centre in London, England.

There is an urgent need for data security solutions in APAC. A new study from Marsh & McLennan Companies found that Asia-Pacific region has the worst cyber security in the world. Most breaches are never made public and discovery time on average was 520 days; the global average is just 146 days

Echoworx President and CEO Michael Ginsberg says companies in more countries are recognizing the importance of encryption and security in thwarting cyberattacks and data breaches, and APAC is an underserved market.

“We moved into Mexico to serve Latin America and are one of the few encryption companies in that market,” says Ginsberg. “We have a first-mover advantage there and would like to parlay that stance in APAC, starting in Australia.”

Organizations using Echoworx advanced solutions reap the benefits of being able to communicate with customers and partners quickly and securely. Large institutions, such as those in the financial sector, have new and improved ways to engage customers and increase market share by offering secured services like e-statements.

Echoworx can address another growing concern among clients in various parts of the world: that their data is stored in their jurisdiction and not in another country or region.

“Different areas have different maturities and different concerns, such as where is their data being housed,” says Ginsberg. “Jurisdictional awareness is a big security purchasing decision when it comes to countries’ data.”

Ginsberg says Australia will be the launching point for Echoworx’s operations in APAC, with plans to have a data centre operating by mid-May, with Indonesia or Japan next on the agenda.

“With the advent of Cloud management, we have the capability to be up in a jurisdiction in a very short time and in an economical fashion,” says Ginsberg. “By utilizing Cloud services, we are no longer restricted by physical resources or IT intensive infrastructure maintenance, enabling us to be 100 per cent focused on how we can help our customers communicate better with the outside world in a secure fashion.”

The European Union (EU) is another area that will benefit from Echoworx OneWorld platform, as encryption is a logical solution for companies in EU and while it’s not mandatory or the only solution, the GDPR encourages its use as a best practice to protect sensitive information from breaches. To learn how your organization can better protect its important data from attacks, stop by booth #S2715, grab a latte, and sit in on one of our presentations.

Don’t miss the Echoworx session, 10 Ways to Leverage Encryption by Taking a Customer-First Approach, in the Get GDPR Ready! Risk, Compliance Theatre on March 21, 2019 from 13:20 to 13:45 with Steve Davis, Solutions Architect.

With many areas around the world needing to step up information security as more organizations are realizing the importance of protecting their data, Echoworx intends to leverage its expertise in communication security.

“For our company, these types of opportunities will allow us to be truly global,” says Ginsberg.

Echoworx forges partnership with Moneta Technologies

Fortifying relations in Mexico

TORONTO, ONTARIO — It’s a New Year and with it comes new opportunities. Echoworx is delighted to announce its new strategic partnership in Mexico with Moneta Technologies. It was only last year that email encryption provider Echoworx opened a local data center near Mexico City, catering to Mexico’s demand for in-country data security, offering its advanced encryption platform OneWorld.

Moneta Technologies is a technology solutions company with expertise in electronic payments and focused in technology infrastructure development for banking and financial services, retail, and telecommunications.

Commenting on the partnership with Echoworx, Juan Pablo González, Managing Director at Moneta Technologies said, “These are very interesting times in Mexico’s vibrant economy and this alliance will help us serve as a trusted partner to our clients by providing best in class information and communication technologies that enable their growth and economic progress. Echoworx’s encryption solutions will help our clients to safeguard their customers’ sensitive information against theft and other data privacy attacks that favor targeting email.”

“Mexico ranks as the second country in Latin America with the most cyberattacks, behind Brazil, with many large organizations suffering from outdated and incompatible encryption capabilities. Stricter data security regulations continue to be put in place, such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and Mexico’s General Law for the Protection of Personal Data, that will further impact organizations’ data protection and information practices. Our timing in engaging with Mexico could not be better,” echoed Randy Lenaghan, VP Sales at Echoworx. “Our email encryption platform is designed to address the diverse information and communication requirements within the banking and financial services industry and to effectively adapt to the changes.”

Mexico is touted to be among the global leaders in digital transactions, and with security being of paramount concern it is pertinent that a sustainable infrastructure is in place to safeguard every customer’s interest. This partnership reaffirms Echoworx’s commitment to Mexico and its focus in strengthening cybersecurity by collaborating to safeguard sensitive information.

People More Willing to Share Data Online Than with New Dating Partners

New study from the information encryption experts at Echoworx

TORONTO, ONTARIO – People are more willing to divulge their personal data in an email than they are to share that same information with potential dating partners, according to a new study from the information encryption experts at Echoworx.

The study, commissioned by Echoworx and conducted by market research company OnePoll in August 2017, surveyed 2,000 adults from across the United States. It found that while most people won’t reveal personal details, including their full names, to a potential partner until after an average of two and a half dates, they will readily provide sensitive information online.

“It’s interesting that those surveyed were more willing to send personal information across the web than to divulge facts to a person they are getting to know. It reveals that people are not aware of the risks they are taking in case of a breach,” says Sam Elsharif, VP Software at Echoworx.

Most Americans take just 20 seconds to decide whether an email in their inbox is safe, 28 seconds to determine if it’s safe to enter personal data into an online forum and 31 seconds to decide whether a website is safe to make a credit card purchase from, the study found. Yet when it comes to dating, most aren’t comfortable disclosing their home address until after an average of four dates and it takes six and a half dates before they’ll discuss salary. One in three say they wouldn’t feel comfortable about talking salary after any amount of dates.

They don’t have the same hesitation when it comes to divulging personal details of their lives online. Three-quarters of survey respondents admitted they have shared sensitive or personal data electronically and on average, they share three pieces of personal information by email each week. Thirty-eight per cent have sent information online to a healthcare provider, 35 per cent to a bank and 25 per cent to a government official.

Even though they may regularly share personal data online, most survey respondents question if it’s safe to do so and more than a quarter of them are unsure what encryption is, despite it being an important security measure.

“When it comes to sensitive personal data, like your social security number and banking details being shared online, it’s important to be cautious and verify the privacy policies, real needs, and legitimacy of the companies requiring it,” says Sam Elsharif of Echoworx.

Surprisingly, five per cent of survey participants say they feel comfortable disclosing their social security number with a possible partner after just one date – unfortunately encryption can’t help with that type of personal disclosure.

Echoworx Expands Operations to Mexico, Meeting Demand for In-Country Data Security

TORONTO, ONTARIO – 25 April, 2017 –  Email encryption provider Echoworx has responded to Mexico’s data security demands by setting up its advanced encryption platform OneWorld within a local data center near Mexico City.  The expansion has been fuelled by customers’ increasing demand for in-country data security and will allow businesses operating in Mexico the option to store and protect their sensitive information locally.

Commenting on the expansion, Jacob Ginsberg, Senior Director of Products at Echoworx said: “Mexico is a large, underserved market. Our timing in engaging Mexico could not be better. As opposed to using antiquated solutions to simply satisfy compliance laws, they will immediately be able to take advantage of our advanced products – effectively leapfrogging a generation of encryption technology – and reap the benefits of being able to communicate with their customers and partners quickly and securely.” He says as large institutions, especially those in the financial sector, look for new and better ways to engage their customers and increase market share, they will quickly see how offering secured services like e-statements will be a sharp differentiator.”

The expansion to a local Mexican data center is also key to Echoworx’s partner growth strategy. Grupo Empresarial EISEI has signed as Echoworx’s first partner in providing its encryption solutions to the Mexican market. EISEI is a software development and services company that serves financial, commercial, entertainment and construction organizations.

“Data security is an increasing concern for many companies in Mexico and many financial organizations don’t have adequate encryption solutions,” says Luis Hernandez, director of new business for EISEI. He says the country has issues with those involved in organized crime easily stealing private data sent in emails. “Echoworx encryption solutions will help to safeguard against this type of theft and other cyber attacks that favor targeting email,” Hernandez says.

“The key for us was, Echoworx’s encryption solutions are very easy to implement and simple for our clients to use,” says Hernandez. “Their solution complements and adds a lot of value to the services we offer.  We are very excited about our partnership with Echoworx.”

Grupo Empresarial EISEI is the first partner to offer in-country data security through Echoworx’s OneWorld encryption platform. Echoworx has plans to add additional partners as demand increases.

Organisations acknowledge encryption as “critical” but remain deterred by complexity

London, UK – 19 January 2017 – Email encryption is a “critical” or “very important” business priority for 53 per cent of organisations, despite only being used “extensively” by 40 percent of organisations. The findings, published in a market research survey on behalf of Echoworx by Osterman Research, suggest the technology’s stock among business leaders is increasing, but perception issues over ease of use still remain.

The study, titled Enterprise Encryption and Authentication Usage: A Survey Report”, polled the views of almost 165 IT decision makers and influencers, managing on average 14,000 email users per organisation, to assess the adoption of encryption in the context of email, file sharing and other communication modes used to share sensitive and confidential records. More than half of the respondents (53 per cent) considered email encryption a priority, up almost 10 per cent on 2015.

However, the findings also revealed that encryption is not used as often as it should be. Only two in five (40 per cent) organisations reported “extensive” use of encryption. When asked what the barriers are preventing more widespread use of the technology, more than half (53%) of respondents said “asking too much of the email recipients”, indicating that ease of use for both senders and receivers is still a major issue for businesses.

“Despite the importance of encryption and the benefits it offers, there is still the common misconception that the technology is suited for only the technically savvy”, said Jacob Ginsberg, Senior Director at Echoworx. “The challenge in the security industry today is that despite the ever more complex threat vector, solutions must remain dead simple to use. Human nature is to look for the easiest path to accomplish a task, and that path also must be the most secure. Creating more efficient, easy-to-use, cloud-based encryption systems will help drive adoption forward.”

With the GDPR deadline less than 18 months away, encryption is a key technology that will enable organisations to comply with the regulations and avoid heavy financial penalties. However, one third (33 per cent) of the respondents said that their plans to extend data protection using encryption will occur in “over one year’s time”, leaving little time to spare.

“Encryption is one of the most important technologies that organisations can deploy in order to comply with GDPR”, continued Ginsberg. “With the increasing number of data breaches, an encryption policy that spans a wide range of applications and purposes will go a long way to safeguarding organisations’ data and that of its stakeholders.”

Echoworx Reacts to Security Fears over Brexit with AWS Installation in Dublin

Toronto, ON – 27 October, 2016 – Email encryption provider Echoworx has responded to the UK’s impending departure from the single market by setting up its smart messaging platform OneWorld on an Amazon Web Services Cloud in Dublin. The installation has been fuelled by customers’ increasing demand for geographic jurisdictional security and will allow European businesses with UK operations the option to store and protect their data within European privacy law, regardless of the impact of Brexit.

OneWorld is Echoworx’s policy-based solution that offers a simple way for companies to encrypt email communications and e-statements. The availability on AWS means encryption services can be delivered directly from the platform, providing customers with the flexibility and control to route their communications securely through one of 12 AWS geographic regions worldwide.

Commenting on the launch, Alex Loo, VP of Operations at Echoworx said: “Jurisdictional security is fast becoming a top priority for our European customers. For those businesses with a UK presence, there are very real financial and operational implications of incoming UK-based policy. The Investigatory Powers Bill, currently being debated in parliament, has the potential to cause significant regulatory and compliance headaches. By installing OneWorld on an AWS Cloud in Dublin, we are able to take advantage of Ireland’s highly favourable privacy laws and respond to our customers’ demands for more secure communications.”

The AWS implementation is also a key development in Echoworx’s growth and on-going digital transformation strategies. The cloud environment enables customers to deploy OneWorld as a fully-customised communications security platform anywhere in the world, within a week. They can now move their data quickly and simply from one geographical region to another, based on local demand. Echoworx will also be the first among its competitors to dramatically reduce CAPEX costs incurred through the ownership of a hosted facility – savings that it plans to pass on to customers.

“Utilising AWS means that we are no longer restricted by physical environments or high-maintenance on-premise IT infrastructure”, continued Loo. “It puts us in a far better position to focus all of our attention on maintaining the highest levels of customer service, while still supporting our customers’ needs for better and more secure communication with the outside world.”

AWS Dublin is the first region to go live under this strategy. Echoworx has plans to add additional geographies as demand increases, with Latin America and Asia currently topping the expansion plans list.

Echoworx Shifts Strategy, Utilizes AWS Cloud to Meet Demand for Email Encryption Solutions

RSA CONFERENCE – SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – February 29, 2016 – Echoworx, makers of OneWorld, the first smart platform for message encryption, today announced at the RSA Conference 2016 a shift in the company’s strategy that allows it to significantly expand support for the growing demand of geographic jurisdictional security by launching OneWorld Encryption on AWS Cloud. AWS-Dublin, specifically chosen for its jurisdictional advantage, will be the first region to go live under this new strategy. Additional jurisdictions will be added quickly and easily as demand arises.

Echoworx’s OneWorld Encryption is a policy-based encryption solution that provides an easy way for companies to encrypt email communications and e-statements. Having OneWorld Encryption available in AWS allows Echoworx to provide encryption services from their platform purpose-built to provide customers with the flexibility and control to route their secure communications through one of twelve AWS geographic regions worldwide.

“By utilizing AWS, we will no longer be restricted by physical resources or IT intensive infrastructure maintenance, enabling us to be 100 percent focused how we can help our customers communicate better with the outside world in a secure fashion,” said Michael Ginsberg, President and CEO of Echoworx.

OneWorld allows businesses to easily integrate a single, scalable, easy-to-use encryption solution into their existing infrastructure. With AWS, deploying OneWorld around the world will be a basic point-and-click exercise that provides customers the added benefit of knowing that their infrastructure is hyper scalable and truly private.

Compliance and privacy requirements are causing enterprises to consider geographical jurisdictional security a top priority. Pending legislation such as the Investigatory Powers Bill by the UK government and the U.S. anti-encryption legislation are driving enterprises to shop for services in geographic jurisdictions they feel can better keep their communications secure. AWS is now certified against more than 20 domestic and international compliance accreditations to accommodate virtually any workload. Providing these options for customers via AWS is a key part of Echoworx’s focus. Ireland’s highly favorable data privacy laws make it a natural fit for Echoworx to offer its services.

“Our customers continue to invest in broadening their range of security offerings, and we are working with them to exceed their customers’ high expectations for secure communication,” Ginsberg said. “Compliance and privacy requirements are driving enterprises to make jurisdictional security a top priority and they are looking to us to simply and seamlessly integrate managed encryption services into their existing environment – wherever that may be.”

OneWorld on AWS – Dublin will be commercially available August 1st. For more information, visit echoworx.com

AWS is now certified against more than 20 domestic and international compliance accreditations to accommodate virtually any workload. Providing these options for customers via AWS is a key part of Echoworx’s focus. Ireland’s highly favourable data privacy laws make it a natural fit for Echoworx to offer its services.

“Our customers continue to invest in broadening their range of security offerings, and we are helping them exceed their customers’ high expectations for secure communication,” Ginsberg said.

Privacy to Drive Evolution of Threat Landscape in 2016

Echoworx predicts government action will force jurisdictional shopping

London, December – 14, 2015 – Echoworx, makers of OneWorld, the first smart platform for message encryption, predicts that businesses are going to be putting security technologies at the top of their Christmas lists in order to cope with the rapidly changing threat landscape in 2016.

“Data breaches are the new normal. IT departments have to tackle constantly evolving security threats and many are struggling to keep up. Users continue to be the biggest threat to enterprise wide security, and in 2016, we’ll see a shift towards smart interoperable security tools which take the decision of what and when to encrypt out of their hands,” said Greg Aligiannis, Security Director, Echoworx.

He continued, “on the consumer side, The Investigatory Powers Bill proposed by the UK government has sent a message globally that governments have the right to snoop on people’s personal data. Expect pushback; people are going to start storing and transmitting their data through channels that are out of the government’s reach.”

Here are five things Echoworx expects to impact the global security landscape in 2016:

  1. Internet of Things Security will become cyber criminals’ playground

The ever-growing Internet of Things phenomenon is a real concern for business, as every device that’s added to the network creates potential security vulnerability. It’s no longer just about smartphones and tablets when your car, thermostat and security cameras provide an open invitation for cybercrime. For privacy to be protected, employing an intelligent security solution is vital. IoT devices need to be ring-fenced from critical systems in a way that strikes a balance between facilitating connectivity and not allowing criminals unfettered access to in-the-clear data that could be breached via a flawed IoT device.

  1. Government intrusion will force jurisdictional shopping

The announcement of November’s Investigatory Powers Bill by the UK government is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the state’s invasion of citizens’ privacy. We’re going to see more countries follow the UK which will cause a public backlash. If the government continues to ask for backdoors, the public will want to give up less and start to move away from those jurisdictions where privacy is being eroded. People have come to realise that the cloud is hosted in a multitude of countries. People will demand stronger levels of encryption and will shop by jurisdiction in order to keep their communications secure.

  1. Consumers to drive demand of easy to use encryption

2015 has been the year of security breaches, and that is only going to continue into 2016. Traditionally email encryption solutions have been implemented by government bodies and financial services organisations, but we’re likely to see this trickle down into other vertical sectors like utilities and even travel. With social media logins and biometrics being used as authentication keys, we will begin to see encryption reach mass consumer adoption.

  1. Biometrics to gain traction as passwords start to fade away

The password isn’t dead yet, but it’s certainly not considered to be a secure authentication solution anymore. Throughout 2016, we’re going to see passwords play an ever diminishing role, partly driven by the increased demand for stronger encryption keys and consumer biometric authentication apps. With mobile being the main driver for secure communications in the enterprise, we will start seeing more technologies inject personal attributes into encryption key generation and authentication, such as voice recognition, retina scans or heartbeats.

  1. Mobile payments become easier for both customers and criminals

With mobile banking and mobile payments usage continuing to rise, not only are more people using their mobile devices for these services, but more and more companies are entering the market sensing the opportunity. Some of these providers don’t have strong enough security policies, as they are not subject to the same data security regulations that banks are. With usage skyrocketing, its just a matter of time before the next big data breach comes from a mobile payments provider.

Office 365 Users Must Be Concerned about Protecting Confidential Email Data

TORONTO, ONTARIO – November, 6, 2015 – If your company is one of the businesses which subscribe to the Enterprise services of Microsoft® Office 365,  you must be diligent about protecting sensitive and confidential information.

With email remaining the number one form of corporate communication, and the number of email users worldwide to exceed 2.9 billion in 2019, protecting sensitive data is increasingly important.

“Security of sensitive information must be considered a priority by everyone, especially when the life histories of potentially millions of customers are at risk,” says Greg Aligiannis, Senior Director of Security, Echoworx. “Encryption applied to email and other data lets organizations stay one step ahead if and when a security lapse occurs.”

Sixty one per cent of today’s email users have admitted to sending unencrypted confidential information through open email channels. So, how can you use Office 365 to manage the complex risk management demands surrounding email communication?

Echoworx, makers of OneWorld, the first intelligent message encryption platform, can assure email messaging and data protection for Office 365 with an integrated cloud system that’s completely secure yet simple to use.

Echoworx is providing two opportunities to learn about how you can protect sensitive information with Office 365. On November 12 at 9 a.m. EST, Echoworx will present a webinarSecuring Office 365: Rising to Meet Tomorrow’s Security Challenges, with Osterman Research analyst Michael Osterman and Jacob Ginsberg, Senior Director of Products at Echoworx. They will explain how companies can change their strategy from reactive to proactive when it comes to email security and risk management.

A white paper, Making the Business Case for Office 365, from Osterman Research and Echoworx, is available for download, offering the latest statistics on what’s driving use, real-world best practices for securing Office 365, issues to consider and new business opportunities.

“Microsoft is a cloud vendor that organizations can trust to remain in the cloud business – and to continue to innovate – for many years to come,” says Osterman. “However, no vendor or solution can be all things to all customers.  Consequently, there are some limitations in Office 365 that can be better addressed through the use of security, encryption and other solutions that are offered by third parties.”

“Email encryption doesn’t have to be complicated. Policy-based email solutions remove the responsibility for security from individual employees by detecting specified keywords, attachments or number patterns like credit cards or social insurance numbers.”says Aligiannis.

Echoworx Seeks Partners to Support European Growth

LONDON, UK – September, 10, 2015 – Echoworx, maker of OneWorld, the first smart platform for message encryption, is looking to the European channel to support its growth plans in the region.

The company is aiming to expand its links with partners across Europe with the recruitment of resellers to meet the increasing demand for smart message encryption. This demand is fuelled by mounting business risks around data leakage and increased regulation.

Neill Crompton, EMEA Corporate Development Director at Echoworx: “Companies are being challenged by security and compliance and many have turned to encryption solutions that are confusing, prescriptive, limited, and don’t scale well. They need a better solution in order to make encryption part of everyday business operations.

Echoworx’s OneWorld is the first smart message encryption platform. It is native to the cloud, and its intelligent ‘best method’ delivery triggers identify the most appropriate encryption method from six flexible options. These triggers include sender, recipient, subject line and known preferences of the recipient domain, amongst many other identifiers.

UK based IT services provider bluesource is one of the first new partners to come on board as part of the new channel focus. bluesource specialises in Information Management and Productivity solutions, with a expertise in data archiving and messaging technologies and operates in those markets that are both data heavy and highly regulated. . It has achieved Symantec Gold Partner status and a Triple-Gold Competency rating from Microsoft as well as being recognised as a specialist cloud and managed services provider by both partners.

“We’re seeing increasing demand for our solutions across Europe and the channel is vital to our efforts to meet this increased interest,” said Crompton. “We’re keen to recruit new MSPs and VARs in order to capitalise on the real growth opportunity we’re witnessing through growing security regulations across Europe.”
